Code Name: SALOON

Saloon DancerOver the past few months, Jim DeBetta and I have been working to get Alesya Bags into several large retail stores.  But I haven’t been telling you about it because – as you might imagine – talking about the day-to-day issues would not help us land the account!  However, I’ve decided I can release a few of the details under a code name for each store.  The first will be “The Saloon”.

The Saloon would be the perfect location for our women’s laptop bags.  The buyer there has liked the bags from the get go.  She’s wanted to do a test, but first we had to get set up as a vendor.  For the past few months we’ve been working to get integrated into Saloon’s Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) System.

EDI is a system that a lot of large retailers use.  Frankly, it’s sort of old, but since it’s what “everyone” uses people just keep using it.  It involves a lot of computer coding and a lot of back and forth between the retailer and supplier.

Yesterday we think we finally (finally!) have all the parts in place for an order to go through.  We were assigned a vendor number which seemed to be the final piece to the puzzle.  Now we wait for the order to come through the EDI system.  As the Saloon account progresses, I will certainly keep you posted!
