Timing: The bags on our their way from Long Beach, California. As of yesterday, the update arrival date is (drum roll please) Wednesday, September 19th. Yes! That is NEXT Wednesday. Can you believe it? If that happens they will go on sale Thursday, September 20th.
Colors Announcement: Many, many, MANY of you have asked when I will tell you the two new colors. I’ve decided those on the Wait List will be the first to know. Sign up and you’ll get two emails – one with the new colors and one when the bags are available for purchase.
Boxes: The new boxes are ready and waiting! I was sent the photo about this morning from Jerry at Pratt. Yea!
Retail: Jim and I have had lots of retail interest. Sample bags have gone to Australia, Europe and all over the United States. We’ve also had some No’s. Look for a full update next week as we countdown to the new laptop bags.
Alesya Photos: Some people get new head shots, I get new bag shots. It’s certainly one of my least favorite activities but as Tori Johnson once told me “get over it.” Below is a peak at the photos Hunter Graham took for me. Face from Finger Paint Makeup and hair from Canvas Salon. We’re so close to Fall 2012 bags! Are you ready for next week? I am! ~A
- The bags are scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles on August 16th
- Customs usually takes about 3 days
- Then it will take about 4 days for them to go across the country from LA to Summerville, SC
- It would seem that August 27th is the day the bags will go on sale
Before you go pulling out your red pen to circle the date, don’t forget how customs went the last time. And lets face it, I didn’t handle the delay well. In fact, I made such stink about it here’s what my friend Dan posted on my Facebook wall for my birthday over a year later:
Let’s just hope I don’t get so carried away this time! I’m really the picture of patience so I don’t expect it will be an issue. (Ahem.)
I will keep you updated as the bags progress. Want to be the very first to know when they are available? Please sign up for the Wait List so you don’t miss out.
Today I’m anxiously awaiting the UPS truck. Two bags have been randomly pulled from the 600 in China and are scheduled to be on my doorstep today. Once I approve them the factory will ship the rest.
Those two bags will then get sent to the most interested retailer buyers. Notice I said “most interested”. Not largest or most potential. The goal is to get a couple of wins under our belts!
Meanwhile, I’m working on Spring 2013 ideas. What the colors might be, the feel and bag changes., etc. To see my initial thoughts head over to Pinterest (like you’re not there anyway) to see my inspiration board for the next season. The ideas all started with this ad from Jackie Smith. I’m obsessed with it.
And yes, as always, I will take your color suggestions and requests. Spring gives me the opportunity to get a bit crazier color wise, so don’t hold back!
On May 18th at 1:43 PM we welcomed the newest member of our family – Dorothy Lee Macatol. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 7 oz., had curly hair and her father’s nose. We cried tears of joy and relief as we counted ten fingers and ten toes.
Dorothy is named after my husband’s maternal grandmother and my father whose middle name is also Lee. As much as Dorothy is her own person she looks a lot like our older daughter and like my husband. Perhaps she has my ears, but the genes on my husband’s side are so strong it’s hard to tell.
Just like everyone tells you, the moment she was born our hearts expanded. So cliché and still very true. We didn’t know how it was possible to love another child as much as we loved our first, but it just happens. Amazing and wonderful.
The c-section went as planned except I freaked out a little about the spinal. As odd as this sounds, I didn’t think about the surgery until I got the hospital and they starting prepping me. Then it was like, “Oh yeah, they are going to be cutting me open in a few minutes. And to that I need to have this huge shot. That’s not ideal!”
Luckily the anesthesiologist knew before I said anything that I was nervous and he was very reassuring. Also, since my husband is a physician they let him stay for the spinal to hold my hand. Such a simple thing but so helpful. Once my OB arrived and the drugs kicked in I started to calm down. Plus, they gave me nausea medication this time so I didn’t throw up in the OR. Bonus.
It’s now three weeks out for our new family of four. We could all use more sleep, but things are going well. Our oldest daughter is reveling in her Big Sister role and hates to see her Little Sister cry. I’m still in some pain from the surgery but getting a little better each day. My husband has been doing an excellent job caring for all his girls.
I’m back to work almost full time. While I’m not sure it’s the best decision, it’s the right one for me now. Thank you for your patience with delayed responses, etc. Feel free to reach out if you feel I’ve missed your email or voice mail. In bag news, the samples arrived exactly a week after Dorothy. Nice! More updates on them this week.
The first photo in this post was taken by Charlotte Elizabeth Photography. Thanks Ms. Char!
As you may have noticed, I’ve been absent from email, Facebook and Twitter. Absent for most of life, actually. I’ve been dealing with a family illness and had to make it my number one priority.
I won’t be going into the details here because it’s not my story to tell. It will be an ongoing issue and again, it won’t be my place to recount those details. Nor do I really want to.
If you are a friend or associate of mine and would like to know what’s going on, please feel free to drop me an email. I’m having a difficult time talking on the phone, so email would likely be best.
Over the next 48 hours I’ll be catching up on work. If you’ve contacted me, hang in there. I’ll be getting to you shortly. Thanks.
TODAY is the last day for FedEx ground shipping. After 4:00 PM ET we can’t guarantee your bag will make it by Christmas unless you upgrade to 2-day shipping. Save yourself the costs and get your bag ordered today!
Also, if you are interested in the Kelly Green Girl bag there are only 3 left in stock. As with the eggplant, there won’t be any more until after the 1st of the year and then they will be very limited. The Equestrian Tan bag has been very popular, so you won’t go wrong there either.
Hope you’re getting everything crossed off your list. I’m working on mine too!
I have a fever. And I’m achy. And I’m not eating anything but toast. Are entrepreneurs even allowed to get sick? Sigh.
~All my best from my bed.
Overall Quality – Did you answer all the questions? Did I feel like you understood the bag? Did you sound passionate and enthusiastic?
Diversity – I was looking for a big range in terms of school year, location, major, etc.
Online Influence – Anyone who was active in social media had an advantage. I wanted to see how you’d get the word out!
All told, there were 32 amazing applicants. I picked five of you to be ambassadors. Results coming….soon!
From my shipper in New York:
This shipment is on exam hold. The shipment will be delayed. The New ETA will be provided once exam has been completed. Please see attached for arrival notice/invoice. The arrival notice is not final.
Well this isn’t good.
